We are seeking a full-time Periodontist who will report directly to the Chief of Dental Service. The candidate may choose to have their duty station at one of three locations: Sacramento (McClellan campus), Fairfield or Mare Island, CA.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Administers local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide analgesia.
Performs routine and moderately complicated tooth extractions, including surgical procedures.
Studies results of examination to determine type of service required and develops an acceptable treatment plan.
Recognizes symptoms of an assortment of systemic diseased and referring cases for medical diagnosis.
The incumbent must provide timely, accurate and complete record documentation utilizing the computerized medical record system.
Provides appropriate consults and referrals to medical and dental specialists.
The incumbent will provide education and training to members of the medical and dental staff through various conferences, committees, and lecture series.
The incumbent may be assigned administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation in clinical, educational, and administrative committees, task groups or special projects.
Responsible for attending department, facility and education meetings that occur before and after clinic hours.
This position will require excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to triage, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of urgent and chronic dental problems in a patient population with a high percentage of medically compromised individuals.
The incumbent will comply with processes and procedures including infection control, OSHA guidelines, x-rays and oral health education, knowledge, and application of HIPPA/Security regulations, and in compliance with VHA policy.

Provide professional guidance to dental hygienists
Practice in accordance with accepted professional standards, organizational values, and with a commitment to excellent customer service.
Treatment planning complex cases.
Team player willing to work with general dentists/specialist to achieve optimal results.
Education of Dental Residents.
Candidates must: 1) be US citizen, 2) possess a current, full, unrestricted dental license in any State and 3) have training in Periodontology. Preferred experience: Certified by the American Board of Periodontology (ABP), evidence of high productivity and leadership within clinic and educational activities.
Salary Range: $180,000-$245,000
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
