The Inclusive Care Clinic (ICC) in the Division of Prevention and Public Health Sciences in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a full-time, Clinical Instructor (Dental Hygienist) to join a worldwide leader in oral health education, clinical care and research that is patient –centered and evidence-based.
The ICC is a new clinic that will open in January of 2024. The ICC will serve patients with disabilities 15 years and older, with a particular emphasis on providing comfortable, competent care for neuro-diverse patients (e.g., patients with autism spectrum disorders, psychiatric, and behavioral conditions) and those who otherwise experience challenges receiving dental care. The goals of this clinic are - a) to provide clinical opportunities to gain experience working with patients with special needs b) to provide unmet special care services and c) to provide clinical research opportunities.
The Clinical Instructor (Dental Hygienist) will provide supervision, guidance and instruction to dental students who are delivering care to patients in the Inclusive Care Clinic (ICC). The Clinical Instructor (Dental Hygienist) faculty member will also engage in patient care.
Qualifications included Bachelor degree of science (Master’s in dental hygiene preferred). Dental Hygienist licensure in the State of Illinois and current cardiopulmonary resuscitation/basic life support (CPR) certification required. Strong commitment to interdisciplinary care and willingness to engage other academic departments. Experience in evidenced-based dentistry and practice management preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in fostering collaborative care for patients with special health care needs.
