Job Overview
Homer Dental Center is seeking a Dental Hygienist to join our team, ideally in May 2025! We are a Kois-trained, patient-centered, dental-wellness-focused practice in the heart of Homer, Alaska. At Homer Dental Center, we pride ourselves in adoping the most up-to-date treatment protocols and technologies to provide the best patient outcomes possible. We have 2D radiographs, 3D CBCT, iTero scanner, Primescan, digital design software, EMS Airflow, Cavitron & Piezon, and 3D printing capabilities.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing the highest quality dental care and education to our patients, while ensuring a positive, comfortable, and safe environment. This role requires a dedication to professionalism, team work, overall excellence in day-to-day activities, and a thorough understaning of the important role the dental hygienist plays in health & wellness. We work hard, and have fun doing it!
*Bonus points if you have a special interest in sleep/airway dentistry and/or myofunctional therapy, as we are working towards adding this to our office!

Responsibilities
- Perform quality and diagnostic imaging such as intraoral photos, 3D scans, 2D radiographs, and 3D CBCT's.
- Assess and document patients' medical history, dental history, and vital signs.
- Perform initial examination and co-diagnosis of periodontal conditions per AAP guidelines.
- Perform diagnostically-driven periodontal treatment per Kois and Homer Dental Center protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care practices.
- Utilize dental software (Open Dental, DTX) to maintain accurate dental records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in the development and explanation of treatment plans in collaboration with the dentist.
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
